Requests: methods, paths, headers and bodies

Start here

Clients and servers talk in HTTP. Every request is a short piece of text with up to four parts:

  • a method: what to do
  • a path: what to do it to
  • headers: extra details, such as who's asking
  • a body: data being sent, when there is any

Learn to read these four, and you can read any request a server will ever get.
